GTU-Department of Civil Engineering (GTU-CE) has been specialized on natural hazards and design of engineering buildings. GTU-CE has been in numerous international and national research projects from where wide experiences were gained. Currently, GTU-CE is leading a SATREPS project which is funded by Japanese International Cooperation Agency. The project includes several Turkish/Japanese universities and governmental offices from Turkey. The aim of the project is to establish an test center where the seismic hazard resistant buildings and resilient societies created.
