Eco-Friendly: Sustainable Paint, Coating, and Insulation Strategies Project

Current global challenges, particularly related to carbon dioxide emissions and climate change, have led to the emergence of the concept of green building. Therefore, the use of bio-based resources that are sustainable, reduce carbon and energy emissions, and consume less energy for building operations has gained prominence over traditional construction materials.

Wood panels, especially MDF and insulation fiberboards, constitute significant components in construction and indoor environments (buildings, furniture), representing a continuously growing market in the EU and worldwide. The main goal of this project, conducted in collaboration with Betek Boya ve Kimya, is to encourage the increased use of wood in a building by offering suitable alternatives.

Objectives:

Design sustainable insulation panel products using bio-based resins to contribute to the bio-economy.
Reduce overall consumption of raw materials through lightweight construction methods.
Decrease energy consumption in construction processes.
Minimize the amount of waste material during production and emphasize the recyclability of products.
Reduce CO2 and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by leveraging the carbon-capturing potential of wood.
Betek Boya ve Kimya Sanayi A.Ş. actively operates in Industrial Paints, Furniture Paints, Color, Water-Based Paints, Synthetic Paints, Polymers, Insulation, Measurement Techniques, and Legislation through its Research and Development (R&D) departments. As the Advanced Technologies and Sustainability R&D Center, it has actively participated in research on "Energy Sustainable Advanced Materials," "Innovative Surfaces, Coatings, and Interfaces," and "High-Performance Polymers," aiming to sustain these efforts successfully.
