Zero-Waste and Circular Production Model with AI-Supported Biomass Ecosystem (BioLoop)
BioLoop aims to develop an AI-supported integrated biomass ecosystem for the sustainable utilization of biomass and circular production based on the zero-waste principle. Through the digital classification of regional biomass resources, real-time monitoring and optimization of production processes via an AI-based digital twin model, energy efficiency will be enhanced and carbon emissions minimized.
AI algorithms will determine the most efficient conversion conditions based on the chemical and physical properties of biomass; thus, production processes will be optimized for each biomass type. By adopting an industrial symbiosis approach, BioLoop will enable the utilization of waste and by-products (such as biogas and biochar) generated during conversion in different sectors, creating both economic and environmental benefits. In this way, a sustainable and integrated ecosystem will be established through the implementation of circular economy business models under the zero-waste principle.
The project will bring together experts from biotechnology, artificial intelligence, environmental engineering, energy management, and economics. Decision-support systems will be developed based on data quality and process traceability. With its innovative, AI-driven digitalization solutions in biomass conversion and waste management, BioLoop will serve as a pioneering model in the field.
